Sri Lanka delivered a commanding performance against Oman to secure a 105-run victory in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group B match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on February 12, 2026. The co-hosts put up a strong batting display before their bowlers ran through the Omani chase to earn a dominant win.
After Oman elected to field, Sri Lanka amassed a formidable total of 225 for 5 in their 20 overs, fuelled by half-centuries from Kusal Mendis (61), Pavan Rathnayake (60) and an explosive 50 from captain Dasun Shanaka. The Sri Lankan innings was marked by aggressive batting in the middle and late overs, pushing the run rate past 11 runs per over. In reply, Oman struggled against disciplined Sri Lankan bowling, finishing 116 for 9 in 19.2 overs. The only notable resistance came from Mohammad Nadeem, who scored 52 not out, but it was insufficient to slow down the hosts. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack consistently struck at key intervals to restrict the chase well short of the target.
The result not only gave Sri Lanka a big boost in the Group B standings but also highlighted their all-round strength in the tournament. The 105-run margin stands as one of the more emphatic victories in the ongoing T20 World Cup, underlining the gap in performance between the two sides in this encounter.
